When learning to draw, yous often need to temporarily concord off judgment and attempt not to second guess what you lot remember the object should expect like, rather than what the object actually looks like.

Flow is the mental state when you are fully immersed in an activity, a feeling of full involvement and free energy.

Isn't this right?

You should exist looking and labelling the object; you lot should be really concentrating on it; that is what yous take to do, right?

Well, yes and no.

When I'm drawing a canteen, I don't describe the bottle.

I draw the shapes around the bottle, then the bottle is fatigued for me.

Confused?

Let me explain some more.

All edges in a drawing are shared edges; you cannot draw a line without sharing two edges.

Imagine cartoon the bottom of a gunkhole, one direct horizontal line.

That line now shares an edge with the lesser of the boat and the water.

1 line, 2 edges.

That boat you were having trouble with is just a series of lines and shapes.

How I draw

So if I draw the space around a bottle, information technology shares an edge with space and the bottle, and then the canteen is drawn by me not drawing it.

In cartoon, you are constantly trying to disassociate from labelling real objects so your logical left brain tin can't endeavor to tell yous how to draw what it recognises.

It seems wrong, it seems backwards, but this is why you can't depict.

To see like an creative person, you have to larn to brand a cognitive shift from left brain to right brain.

If you keep talking to yourself, engaging your inner critic you lot will be firing up the left brain.

Ever wonder why Jackson Pollack drank a lot of Bourbon, Van Gogh absinthe? Alcohol calms yous down; you're non as self-critical.

Cartoon is a paradox.
